The “Sunset” home bible study group

Unlike the name suggests, this is not about waiting for God but actively seeking His will through group study & discussion of the Bible and how it practically helps day-to-day.

The Sunset home bible study group’s base camp is normally at 2 High Street, Garlinge, on 2nd & 4th Wednesday evenings at 8:00 – 9:30 pm* .

What is it like

It is flexible, with people free to come and go as they need to but folks are encouraged to stick to the times above for the study. The current “Topic driven” format of the meeting has been established for approximately 24 months. On average, an 10/12 strong group meet, with a mix of married couples and single folks aged 20+. Topics studied are keen to the heart of the folks who attend.

Some of the topics previously covered included: the Spiritual gifts – how we identify and use them; fruit of the spirit; decisions – seeking God’s guidance; Christian Beliefs; all of them relating back to application in present day life.

The group is about learning about God’s word and what He has to teach us but also learning about one another, getting to know each other as a Christian family. The group acts as a nurturing environment for both new and older Christian believers, with the teaching often going in both directions!

The format of the meeting is based around a specific topic and related passage in the Bible. The topic is then explored using a series of questions that the group is asked to consider and give a view on. This often provokes parallel discussions and good lively debate often ensues.

If you are looking for friendly debate driven Bible study (with not too heavy a content) then this may be the venue for you.
